New product: Repair kit for gearbox selector tower
A common issue with the 9-3 equipped with the F40 (6-speed gearbox) is that the gear lever feels stiff when moving sideways. This makes it difficult to find the gears, and the driving experience becomes very poor. The cause is a bushing, originally made of thin nylon, which gets compressed due to the surrounding material oxidizing.
In our repair kit, the nylon bushing is replaced with a steel bushing that has a PTFE-coated bearing surface. This is also greased with the included PTFE grease for optimal lubrication and protection against moisture. The repair kit also includes a new shaft that replaces the original one. The shaft is made from high-quality 7075 aluminum and is manufactured in Maptun's own machines. The surface of the shaft is then treated for extra corrosion protection. The kit includes tools/guides for pressing in the new bushing, as well as instructions on how to install it in the gearbox's shift tower. Due to space constraints, we recommend removing the tower from the car during installation.
The kit fits the 9-3 (model years 03-12) on cars with front wheel drive and a 6-speed gearbox. As of now, the shafts are getting their final treatment, and the kit will be available for order within a few days.
